We all know about hazing. Some of us have been hazed (maybe more than once). And some of us have done the hazing. Obviously not all hazing is light-hearted, and I don’t condone that in any way, shape or form. However, for the funny pranks that many rookies are put through – who cares? As the regular season of the NFL draws near, I’ve been hearing about some of the initiation going on throughout the league. Rookie WR Dez Bryant (of the Dallas Cowgirls, excuse me I meant Cowboys) was asked to carry vetran WR Roy Williams shoulder pads after practice but refused to do so saying, “I’m not doing it, I feel like I was drafted to play football, not carry another player’s pads.” Personally, why make such a big stink over it? Just do it, get it over with, and next year Dez can get someone to be his driver for a week, carry his pads, bring him water, whatever!
Now on to those who have succombed to the annual “torturing” inflicted upon by their new teammates, in specific good ol’ Tim Tebow. Jimmy Kimmel said this about Tebow’s haircut: “That is the worst haircut ever given to a human being. His head is sunny side up. You know, they did that to Terry Bradshaw and it never came back.” This monk-looking haircut is hilarious!
Personally I see this form of hazing as a non-violent and funny form of team bonding. In the end it will bring everyone closer together and will have made good memories for all. Kudos for Tebow for being such a good sport; shave on my friends!
