Don’t Fry Day

As Memorial Day weekend draws near the National Council on Skin Care Protection has declared Friday, May 27, “Don’t Fry Day” in order to encourage sun safety awareness. Ironically, I read the news about “Don’t Fry Day” a day after I got horribly sunburnt while on the first boat trip of the summer season; not fun. So in honor of Don’t Fry Day, here are some of the best sunscreen products that carry the Skin Cancer Foundation’s Seal of Recommendation!

Aveeno Continuous Protection Sunblock Lotion SPF 70 for Face

Banana Boat Sport Sunblock Lotion SPF 50

Hawaiian Tropic Aloha Kiss Moisturizing Lip Gloss SPF 20 Island Berry

With the face and body sunscreens, don’t forget to reapply every couple of hours, or after you’ve been in the water (if you’re using sunscreen that isn’t waterproof). Many people believe that if you wear sunscreen you won’t get tan – NOT TRUE! You will still get some sun, it just won’t be those harsh rays that lead to skin cancer. While we’re on the topic of protecting our skin with sunscreen, it always nice to have some great assesories to hep the cause as well. Ray Bans, Aviators, whatever kind of sunglasses you prefer, make sure you use them! Your eyes are just as apt to get sun damage if not properly protected . On days I know the sun is going to be super harsh I like to wear a hat as backup to sunscreen in protecting my face. I know it might seem like a lot, or a pain in the butt, but it will truly pay off down the road! With that, happy soon-to-be Don’t Fry Day; make sure you spread the words to your friends!

What are some of your favorite sunscreen products?
