Yesterday was Winston’s 3rd birthday! I wanted to do something special for him so I decided to bake homemade dog treats! Peanut Butter is one of Winston’s favorites so I decided to make something with that as a main ingredient. What I decided upon – Peanut Butter, Honey and Oat Dog Bones! I also had two wonderful Sous Chef’s to help me out – my two nieces, Parry and Grace.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup natural peanut butter (you can use crunchy if you want)
- 3 cups quick oats
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/3 cup low-sodium chicken or beef bouillon powder
- 1/3 cup warm water
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
- Heat the peanut butter in the microwave for about one minute (soft enough to mix with other ingredients)
- Grind 2 cups of quick oats in a food processor (or blender) until a coarse flour
- In a bowl, mix all the ingredients together
- Like you would with regular [people] cookies, work the dough until you can make a ball; then roll it out to about 1/4 inch thick
- Use a cookie cutter of your choice (I used a bone) and cut the dough into shapes
- Put them on a greased cookie sheet
- Bake for about 9-10 minutes (keep an eye on them – you’ll know when they’re ready)
